Preparing for Easter Sunday

This last weekend we had General Conference, which is a worldwide conference for our church, everyone in the world is invited to attend this event. In doing so they get to hear from the Prophet of the Lord and other apostles speak to us about the Lord's teachings and their testimonies of His teachings.

So, in light of that I wanted to share some of the insights that I received from this Semi-Annual General Conference. Firstly, I wanted to point out something that President Russel M. Nelson (The Prophet) had to say during this Conference. He spoke about anger and being able to maintain your temper with others and just being kind to everyone that we meet. He told a story about when he was a surgeon that he was assisting and as he was doing so the head surgeon suddenly got angry, so much so that he threw his scalpel. This scalpel went across the table and stuck into the forearm of President Nelson, he then stated that, that was the day that he decided that he never wanted to look like that man, and he never wanted to make a scene as such just because he was upset that something went wrong or not the way he wanted it to.

He then spoke about how we each need to make the same decision that even when things go wrong, we need to be good examples and show those around us that we are disciples of Jesus Christ and that in being so we can keep a cool head in rough and tough situations.

Some other topics that popped out to me are that they talked a lot about the resurrection of Jesus Christ which I have loved because it really has brought the spirit of the Easter Season into my life. Craige C. Christenson had said something about Jesus' Atonement that really resonated with me. He said, "The nights may be long, but morning is coming." when he said this it really was a huge reminder to me that He really did die for every single one of us. Knowing that I can become clean of all things because of Him and that I can find joy even in the hardest of times because he wants us to be is just amazing to me. He loves each and every one of us so much that he took upon himself all of our pains and afflictions, in doing so he knew that the only person who would truly understand what we go through is himself. He wants to teach us that when things are rough that we can go to him for comfort and support and that he will always be there for us, I know that these things are true. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us so much that he sent us his only Begotten Son, our brother, to die for us and take upon our sins so that we can be with him once again.
