Celebrating the life of Christ
Some may say that I am behind, but I just want to express my thoughts and feelings of the Easter season and the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
This Easter I really was able to reflect on the blessings that I have and how the Lord has blessed my family. We joke often that we have terrible luck but as I thought back on it this Easter, I saw that it is just the contrary. What an enormous blessing it is to be able to raise a family in whatever situation you may be in, the fact that I am able to be a mother and that I am able to give the blessing of being a father to my husband is such an amazing thing. I was able to watch my son color hard boiled eggs and search for plastic eggs in the yard, but I was also able to see him recognize who Jesus is as we watched videos about his Atonement and Resurrection. Being able to see his reverence as we shared some of our favorite scriptures as a family was such a warming moment.
The scripture that I had shared that morning is Matthew 10:38-39 and it says, "And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it." What I have written in next to this scripture is that the whole point of the Atonement of Jesus Christ is that we can become lost in him and in doing so we bring more unto him so that they may find their happiness and peace in life and so that more may become lost in him. I love this scripture because it reminds me that, yes, we have burdens to carry up our hill of life but if we left Christ carry even just half of that load that it makes our journey so much easier. The most incredible part of it is that Jesus Christ offers to carry our whole load and if we are truly converted in his gospel letting those things go and letting him lead the way becomes so much easier.
I know that our Savior lives and that he loves us so very much and I hope that all of you were able to see that in your Easter weekend this year.
