Run Down Cars
The luck that we have had as a family has been quite the adventure, especially when it comes to car troubles.
When my husband and I first started dating we had lived a bit of a distance from each other, he had a truck that he absolutely loved. This truck would have a couple problems here and there, so he decided to sell his truck to his dad and purchase a Mini Cooper. This was a car that he really wanted since he was a kid, and he was excited to have it because of the gas mileage he'd get with it and just the fact that he has always wanted one. This Mini Cooper helped us see each other more often and we put it to good use, until one day it took a hug dump, so we traded it with my dad for the Ford Crown Victoria that I drove as a teenager.
I loved this car to death, and we used it with no air and the windows not working in the southern California dry heat. I kid you not it was a bit of a disaster. We saved up and we bought a brand-new car a 2020 Toyota Corolla, we used this car to drive to our honeymoon destination in phoenix Arizona. I would use it to get to and from work while my husband had the Crown Vic at home. This is when I got the call from my husband saying that the Crown Vic "Won't turn off". You heard that right! The car wouldn't turn off. We didn't really need two cars at the time, so we ended up giving it back to my dad and he fixed it until it ran no more and sold it to the dump (sadly).
We lived on for a few more months until we realized that our son was coming soon, and we felt the need that he had to have a car at home in case of an emergency. So, we found my husband's true dream vehicle and that is a Jeep Wrangler. We got it used from a very nice man and this Jeep did everything for us, it got our dogs all the way out to Texas, it took us on many beach trips, it took us to a family reunion, and very many needed dates.
We took both the Jeep and Corolla all the way from California to Texas. Fingers crossed we didn't have any problems with either for a while. We flew to my parents' house to visit for a little while and when we got back sure enough, we drive our Corolla to the gas station when we got back, we filled up the tank and next thing we knew we were stranded there. Car completely shut down. We took it into the dealership and our bran new vehicle had a dead battery. What are the odds?? We get it fixed and then next thing you know our Jeep has the check engine light on.
We ran it until we needed to get the state inspection done before we renewed the registration on it and instead of dealing with the issue, we sold it off to the nearest Jeep dealership and we are now living with just the Corolla. We got it all new tires (which was no issue) and then we got it new windshield wipers. Which we couldn't get them on because somehow in the process of it all the arms got bent and wouldn't let the new blades sit right and lock in (luckily it was an easy fix) we were just able to bend it back.
Right as we felt all was well, we were leaving the house for my anatomy scan for our second son and we see a shattered passenger window. The funniest part of it all is that if it was just a week sooner my dad (who is an owner to an AutoGlass company) was here in Texas and could have fixed it for us. In just a few short days we will have a fixed window!
Now I didn't want this post to be a pity party, but more to share about how things happen and some people have better luck than others but looking back everything worked out. As long as we do all that we can everything will work out, this is what I have learned in this short time that I have been alive. God gives us the ability to go through hard times and he takes care of us while we do so as long as we look to him and remember that he helps us in all things.
