Happy Mother's Day

Image
Something that I had taken for granted the last 24 and a half years of my life is how much my mom did and still does for me. You can never really understand how much a mother does for her kids until you become one. I am so grateful to have a mother that cares for me and my brothers and really put our needs before anyone else's. I am also so overly thankful for the example that she has set out for me so that I may see it and pattern much of my motherhood after hers.      As we have been preparing for our second little boy to arrive and working so hard with our first with potty training, learning the Alphabet, learning how to swim, etc. I have become so overwhelmed with love for the two of them and imagining what it must have been like for my mother to experience this very same thing. It puts into perspective to me how much she really cares and loves us.      I am so grateful that she will be able to fly out to see us when our baby boy arrives a...

Celebrating the life of Christ

Image
Some may say that I am behind, but I just want to express my thoughts and feelings of the Easter season and the Atonement of Jesus Christ.      This Easter I really was able to reflect on the blessings that I have and how the Lord has blessed my family. We joke often that we have terrible luck but as I thought back on it this Easter, I saw that it is just the contrary. What an enormous blessing it is to be able to raise a family in whatever situation you may be in, the fact that I am able to be a mother and that I am able to give the blessing of being a father to my husband is such an amazing thing. I was able to watch my son color hard boiled eggs and search for plastic eggs in the yard, but I was also able to see him recognize who Jesus is as we watched videos about his Atonement and Resurrection. Being able to see his reverence as we shared some of our favorite scriptures as a family was such a warming moment.     The scripture that ...

Preparing for Easter Sunday

This last weekend we had General Conference, which is a worldwide conference for our church, everyone in the world is invited to attend this event. In doing so they get to hear from the Prophet of the Lord and other apostles speak to us about the Lord's teachings and their testimonies of His teachings.     So, in light of that I wanted to share some of the insights that I received from this Semi-Annual General Conference. Firstly, I wanted to point out something that President Russel M. Nelson (The Prophet) had to say during this Conference. He spoke about anger and being able to maintain your temper with others and just being kind to everyone that we meet. He told a story about when he was a surgeon that he was assisting and as he was doing so the head surgeon suddenly got angry, so much so that he threw his scalpel. This scalpel went across the table and stuck into the forearm of President Nelson, he then stated that, that was th...

Run Down Cars

The luck that we have had as a family has been quite the adventure, especially when it comes to car troubles.      When my husband and I first started dating we had lived a bit of a distance from each other, he had a truck that he absolutely loved. This truck would have a couple problems here and there, so he decided to sell his truck to his dad and purchase a Mini Cooper. This was a car that he really wanted since he was a kid, and he was excited to have it because of the gas mileage he'd get with it and just the fact that he has always wanted one. This Mini Cooper helped us see each other more often and we put it to good use, until one day it took a hug dump, so we traded it with my dad for the Ford Crown Victoria that I drove as a teenager.       I loved this car to death, and we used it with no air and the windows not working in the southern California dry heat. I kid you not it was a bit of a disaster. We sav...

Humble Beginnings

Welcome to Steggy Thoughts, you may be wondering why "Steggy"? Well, we are a family that is proud of their name, and it just so happens to be connected with an awesome  dinosaur!     I wanted to start this blog to share my story with the world, I could be like those who start a YouTube channel, but I am too camera shy for that. A little about me and my family, I grew up in southern California and loved every bit of it I served a church mission in Texas for 18 months (learning Spanish) and I fell in love with it! I came home and met my now Husband. My husband was born in southern California as well and later moved to Texas, as he was entering High School he moved to Utah and then back to California where we had met. In between that he also served a church mission in the New England area for two years. We met in 2019 and got married in May of 2020, we then got pregnant with our first son one month later! Just a short time later we m...
